Class Descriptions

Acro Dance

Acrobatic Dance has 5 main components of class: flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering, and tumbling. It is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Students will work through progression cards earning a star for each skill mastered. Our studio is certified through Acrobatic Arts, the industry's leading acro dance program. Our acro instructors have attended trainings on how to safely spot our students. This style and “tricks” have also became popular through shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dance Moms. 

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of dance and highly encouraged for all dancers. These classes will focus on classical ballet technique, proper body alignment, and learning the French terminology of the steps. Students will work at the barre, in the center, and across the floor in this class. 

FSTLT - Flexibility, Strength, Turns, Leaps, & Tricks

Students will focus on level appropriate technique to master turn sequences, various leaps, & a wide range of tricks. The instructors focus on multiple pirouettes, a la seconde fouettes, grand jetes, center leaps, spinning discs, firebirds, switch leaps, calypsos, group lifts, and more. This class is designed for the dancer wanting to take their skills to the next level outside of normal class. 
*These are NON recital classes.

Hip Hop

These are upbeat, high energy classes. Students will work on strength, especially in their upper body, to master stalls, kip-ups, head spins, and other popular skills. Different styles of hip hop will be explored such as pop & lock, house, tutting, and more. Our instructors pride themselves on keeping the music, material, and choreography presented CLEAN and AGE APPROPRIATE.

Jazz

Jazz dance combines techniques of ballet with the current forms of popular dance. Class includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolation, across the floor progressions, and combinations in the center. Emphasis is on the importance of high energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style.

*Students must be enrolled in ballet, ballet tech or FSTLT to take these classes.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a blend of ballet and jazz, sometimes referred to as contemporary. This style has become very popular as many have watched the beautiful pieces created on So You Think You Can Dance. Dancers are challenged to tap into their emotions and tell a story through their choreography as they perform.
*Students must be enrolled in ballet or ballet tech to take these classes. 

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is a theatrical dance style that includes dance technique and acting to songs from broadways and musicals. Students will focus on their performance abilities to portray a story through facial expressions and their dancing. In higher levels the history of musical theatre dance styles, choreographers, and details of the characters they portray will be studied as well. 

Pointe

This class focuses on the strengthening of the feet and ankle. Classical ballet movement is done on the tips of fully extended feet. Students must have teacher approval to begin pointe class after years of ballet experience. 

*Students must be enrolled in TWO ballet or ballet tech classes a week.

Pom

Pom dance is a blend of sharp cheer leading arms with beautiful dancing legs. Many high school and college dance teams perform this pom style. Your dancer will learn all of the pom positions which cross over into cheer leading as well. This FAST based style of dance will keep them moving and coming out dripping in sweat.

Pre Pointe

This class focuses on the strengthening of the feet and ankle in preparation for pointe. Students may need to take this class for 1 - 3 years before being approved for pointe shoes. It takes dedication and hard work to earn your shoes. 

*Students must be enrolled in TWO ballet or ballet tech classes a week.

Progessing Ballet Technique

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. It is a unique training system using ballet-technique specific exercises to train skill acquisition.

Tap

Tap enables dancers to create music with their feet. Dancers focus on rhythms, syncopation, dynamics, and coordination. As students advance they will be exposed to different styles of tap such as Broadway and Rhythm street.
